While technology is extremely important, and I am extremely grateful for it, I have to admit that it is causing us to pay less attention to more important things. Driving while talking on the phone is hazardous, especially with kids in the car, whether we use an earphone or not. A guy in a white Honda flipped me off just last week for almost sideswiping him. (“Get off your phone, you’re gonna WRECK!”)
The late CEO, Steve Jobs, introduced and teased people with ideas about his new creation. On stage during the Macworld conference held in San Francisco back in 2007, “An iPod, a phone, and an Internet communicator,” he stated. Space Station: Frontier is sci-fi themed game for the iPhone platform that successfully combines the real-time strategy and tower defense genres. Tower defense games are related to the RTS genre, but rarely provide the strategic depth typical of games like StarCraft. Space Station: Frontier is an exception to that rule.
Rise of Atlantis is another in a long line of Bejeweled clones available for the Apple iPhone platform. What sets this game apart is an interesting story line set in the ancient Mediterranean. Successfully completing each level places an artifact on the Altar of Poseidon. When all artifacts are acquired, Poseidon raises Atlantis from the sea.
Even the recent backlash, such as the iDon’t campaign which markets the new Motorola Droid phone as doing everything the iPhone doesn’t, the iPhone still leads the world marketshare in smart phones. As with any major purchase, it is important to examine all the pros and cons before making a decision.
In the past year, the iPhone has been the source of a lot of hype among technology gurus and the general public. That’s unlikely to change with the release of the 5g in 2020, but the sometimes-overlooked cousin of the iPhone – the outdated iPod Touch – is actually a better buy for many users wanting to use a music player only.
